Why asphalt needs special handling
Asphalt pavement is dense. A container can reach its weight limit when it is only partly full, and an overloaded roll-off cannot be transported safely. That is why haulers typically place asphalt in smaller containers and may limit fill height. Asphalt dumpster rental in Altamont, IL starts with measuring the area and estimating the tonnage involved.
For larger driveways and parking areas, the plan may involve more than one container or a series of swaps, rather than one large box.
Keep the load clean
Asphalt is widely recycled into new paving material, and some facilities handle clean asphalt loads separately from mixed debris. A clean load means asphalt only, without trash, wood, or large amounts of soil. Mixing materials can change how the load is processed. Ask us before combining asphalt with concrete, gravel, or dirt.

Estimating the amount
Measure the length and width of the paved area and estimate its thickness. Residential driveways and commercial lots vary widely in depth, and thicker paving means more weight per square foot. Share these numbers when you call. If base gravel is also being removed, mention it, because that adds significant weight as well.
Loading heavy paving debris
Break asphalt into manageable pieces and distribute the weight evenly along the container floor instead of piling it at one end. Follow any fill-level guidance we provide, which for heavy materials may be below the top rim. Equipment such as a skid steer can speed loading, but operators should take care not to damage the container walls. Keep the area around the container clear of workers while material is being dumped.
